SAMPLE AUTHORWARE PROGRAMS
For all of the Authorware programs listed below there are two
links. One link downloads a .pdf file. A second link downloads an
archive of Authorware files for Windows which is self-extracting.
Examples of Interactions - 1
Three programs that illustrate: (1) placing more than one
interactive question on a screen, (2) creating "rollovers"
with hotspots, and (3) creating a keypad with hotspots.

Examples of Interactions - 2
Four programs that illustrate the use of the conditional response
type. The conditional response type is not covered in the required
activities in this course, however it is very important. Conditional
response types are useful when you want something to happen in an
interaction not simply when a user responds directly to the
interaction (say by clicking a button or entering text) but when
some special condition is true.
The four programs include examples of: (1) determining when all
answers are correct in a target area interaction, (2) evaluating a
numeric answer to determine if it is larger or smaller than the
correct answer, and (3) a user entered password which is used
throughout the program to make decisions.

Using the Decision Icon
Two programs that illustrate the use of the decision icon. Random
branching is used to give random feedback to answers to questions
and branching based on calculated path is used to have the program
determine the path a user will take through the program based upon a
quiz score.

Hypertext and Glossary
Two approaches to setting up a glossary: (1) using "jump to
page", and (2) using "call and return." Setting up
"call and return" is more difficult but it provides
certain advantages. It can be used to allow the user to move back
and forth within the glossary and then return to a page in the main
section, and it allows a glossary to be accessed from different
sections of the main program.

A Large Program Structure
An example of a course project which uses frameworks to structure
the program. Most large programs written in Authorware use
frameworks in this manner. The sounds associated with this program
have been eliminated to keep the file size down for downloading
within WebCT.
