Masters of Education Curriculum

The Masters of Education (M.Ed.) in Instructional Technology consists of a minimum of 11 courses (8 courses in the major area of Instructional Technology and at least 3 courses in Educational Foundations). Courses may be taken on campus or via the web.

Effective Fall 2008: students entering the M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program will enter under the program's new format structure (program code: CES). Students enrolled in the M.Ed. in Instructional Technology program prior to Fall 2008 (program code: CCO) may elect to change to the new program structure or may complete their program under the requirements in place when they began their program. Details regarding both program formats are provided below. Before applying to switch M.Ed. programs, students should consider what is gained/lost by switching from CCO to CES masters program.

Benefits:
  * The CES program requires only 11 courses versus 12 courses for the CCO.
  * Under the CES program, you take more instructional technology course than under the CCO program.
  * Under the CES program, you take fewer educational foundations courses than under the CCO program.
Drawback:
  * Under the CES program, your transcript will read Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with Emphasis in Secondary Education. It will NOT specifically list "Instructional Technology" on your transcript. Under the CCO program, your transcript will read Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction with Emphasis in Instructional Technology.

Regardless of which program you enroll, you must complete a Program of Study plan before the end of your second semester or before 15 hours have been completed.
