Certificates
involve completion of three or four graduate courses. Three of the
certificates are available completely online (Web Design, Distance
Education, and Florida Digital Educator). The others can be completed
partially online.
The
following five
Graduate Certificates are offered by the USF Instructional Technology
Program:
How to enroll for a Certificate
You must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or
university to register for any of the Graduate Instructional Technology
Certificate Programs.
Please note: Due to changes in the tuition and fees for online certificates,
DO NOT send in your registration form until you have spoken directly with Dr. Takacs.
For example, if you are a Florida resident and enroll immediately in an online certificate program, you will be charged $376.98/hour for tuition; however,
if you enroll in a graduate program (and earn the certificate along the way), the standard graduate tuition
will apply (currently $251.98/hour). In addition, you can take up to two courses as a non-degree-seeking student
(at the standard tuition rate) prior to enrolling in a Certificate program.
Be aware, however, that you must submit an application for each certificate you wish to earn prior
to completion of more than half the certificate's required courses. If,
for instance, a given certificate involves completion of four courses,
the Departmental Approval Form for that certificate must be submitted
and processed before a grade for the third course is posted.
After you have discussed your options with
Dr. Takacs, download
and complete the
Graduate Certificate Enrollment/Departmental Approval
Package and send it to the USF Graduate Certificate Coordinator:

If you are already admitted to USF, complete just the
Departmental
Approval Form
and send to the address above. There is an application fee of $30.00
for all graduate certificate student applicants who are not currently
enrolled in Master's, Specialist, or Doctoral programs at USF. Please
attach to your
application a check or money order drawn on a U.S. bank in U.S.
currency, payable to USF.
To determine specific semester offerings, visit
OASIS Schedule Search. Select Campus=
Tampa; College=Education (Lakeland-Sarasota-Tampa);
and Department=
Instructional Technology for the search. When you are viewing the search results,
the online courses will be identified by a
W in the Delivery Method column.
How to claim your certificate upon completion
Once you have completed all courses satisfactorily, fill out the
Certificate Completion Form and send it to the IT Certificates
Coordinator, Dr. James Takacs (see contact information below) via
postal mail.
Download the
Certificate
Completion Form (Word format).
Depending on the time of year your notification is received, it could
take as long as three weeks to process your certificate for mailing
(please be patient: several signatures are acquired before your
certificate is sent in the mail).
