Online Master's Degree in Gifted Education

Did you know?

Current Florida gifted endorsement requirements  equal almost half a master's degree. Now more than ever, it makes good sense to plan towards a graduate degree in gifted education taking advantage of the fifteen (15) semester hours that can meet Florida's endorsement requirements and be accepted into an NCATE approved Master's Degree at the University of South Florida.
USF has conferred more advanced degrees in gifted education than any other public or private university in Florida. The Master's Degree in Gifted Education program offers a 36-hour master's degree that features an individualized practicum in the student's district, a flexible program schedule, and a portfolio in lieu of comprehensive examinations.
Courses are available online to facilitate access throughout Florida. Teachers are busy individuals.  To help facilitate teachers' lifelong learning, courses in the Gifted Education program may be taken through the Internet.

Frequently asked questions

How are courses delivered?
Through the innovative use of technology, the USF Online Master's Degree in Gifted Education has made classes more accessible than ever. All gifted endorsement classes (EGI) and many foundations classes (EEX, EDF) are
available through the internet. Additionally, foundations courses and electives may be transferred in from other universities (up to 8 hours).

Courses are delivered through a website at USF. Email and Internet capabilities are required. The online courses are based on a traditional semester calendar and
are not independent study. Participants are required to make weekly postings and to interact with others online through a course website. Participants are not required to attend any on-campus meetings. Students with varying degrees of computer proficiency (from novice to expert) have all been successful in mastering the minimal technical needs of taking an online course.
