Department of Psychological and Social Foundations
We live in an increasingly pluralistic society. Misunderstandings, structural and unintended bias, and discrimination hamper the ability of teachers and other professionals to successfully serve their students and clients. Schools fail to educate. We lose talent. Our inability to affirm diversity in our schools, workplace, and public services adds to inequalities and injustices in the operation of central political, social and economic institutions. It contributes to social disruption, poverty, violence and civil unrest. It is a blight on our democratic heritage. It is time to do something about it. The Diversity Certificate Program is designed for teachers, other professionals and individuals concerned about these issues and who would like the opportunity to increase their own knowledge base so that they can independently contribute to adapting our institutions to accommodate the needs of all individuals and cultures. For more information, see the Diversity Certificate page.
