A Community Demonstration Model: Community-as-Client Needs Assessment

This grant proposal seeks to develop a special education and varying exceptions needs assessment in the local and underserved Birmingham, AL communities. The intent of the project is to create a community demonstration model that is culturally and community responsive with respect to children who have been labeled with special needs. This demonstrative model focuses on: community outreach, the interplay between research and praxis, interdisciplinary research and instructional program, and interagency collaboration. It is the intent of the interdisciplinary investigative team to encourage cross-national studies that explore the outcomes of the research within and across societal boundaries.
